i found another way to circumvent Takeout's mangling of metadata, without using Takeout at all. it really has been infuriating getting my photos back easily without alteration, en mass.BUT. I wish I had known this, thanks! I just want to say, a big old fuck you Google for not having an API to photos after they pulled the pin on Google Drive integration. It's the closest to Google Photos that I've found so far and it's something my wife can actually use to share photos. I'm really happy with the Moments product. Now all my photos are marked as having been taken the day they were actually taken. I set my computer to never sleep while this process was being done and it took several hours, but it worked perfectly. $ exiftool -r -d %s -tagsfromfile "%d/%F.json" "-GPSAltitude Sharing this for those who might encounter the same issue I did.
